Cleaning the bathroom in the past for me was grabbing what ever product off the supermarket isle shelves that promised to make my bathroom sparkling clean in the least amount of time. I never thought about what was in the product I was using or the affect it could have on my health. I was swayed by the packaging- I will admit that it had to look good! I did however feel quite ill using some of these products and thought that ‘they must not be good for me’ Moving on I have been eliminating the toxins from my home for many reasons but to take the stress of our bodies from these products.
The biggest problems in the bathroom can be soap scum and mould. I have found that by using a pure castile cake of soap like Dr Bonner’s (I buy mine here) reduces the amount of scum. Mould can also be a big problem and has detrimental effects to our bodies when we breathe in the spores.
Essential Oils can be used in the bathroom for their anti bacterial, anti-septic and anti-viral properties. Tea Tree Essential oil( known as Melaleuca Alternifolia) and Young Living’s Thieves Blend (Rosemary,Clove, Eucalyptus, Lemon and Cinnamon) covers all these properties and are oils I use in my bathroom
